COVID Medicines
Delivery Unit (CMDU)
Providing COVID-19 treatments for people at highest risk of becoming seriously unwell
Our aim is to reduce symptoms and help prevent hospital admission. Haringey GP Federation and Islington GP Federation jointly run this service for eligible patients living in North Central London: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.
What does treatment involve?
COVID-19 treatments are medicines that stop the virus from multiplying in the body.
They are offered to high-risk patients who:
- Have a positive PCR or lateral flow test
- Are within 5 days of symptom onset
The aim of treatment is to reduce the risk of becoming more unwell and needing hospital care.
Once a referral is received:
- A prescribing pharmacist checks the patient’s GP medical record
- The pharmacist contacts the patient to assess symptoms
- If appropriate, treatment is arranged
The service provides:
- Antiviral medicines
- Neutralising monoclonal antibodies (nMAbs)
All patients must be assessed for eligibility by this primary care-based service.
